Keeping your child safe

Most kids love the bath, they kick and splash water and they have a great time. But even with the least amount of water in the tub, fun time can turn into a tragedy. You can help protect your child by the first and most important rule of thumb is never leave your child alone in the tub. Not even for a second. When your child is in the tub there is nothing more important. If you have a baby sitter advise her of the same thing and if you want peace of mind, do not let the sitter give your child a bath.

If your baby is small enough to use a baby bath seat, never place the seat on a non skid mat because the suction cups will not stick to a regular bathtub surface and it may tip over so you have to be extra careful when using a baby seat. To also protect your child from drowning purchase a tub spout cover. It is an inflatable with a hole for the spout. It has a Velcro latch that will insure a tight fit of the spout.

It is childproof and you don't have to remove it for the shower either. It is a great product and it works. What you can do as well, is purchase a water alarm for your bath tub. It works like a pool alarm but it works on tubs. A company like Safety First has them. For extra precautions, children can also drown in the toilet as well. It sounds hard to believe but it really can happen.

To prevent this from happening purchasing a toilet lock. It slides over the lid and the rim to prevent a child from opening the toilet. It can be a life saver.
